They didn’t have to have all of the answers or perfect, tidy little solutions to any challenge but they knew they could get through it together.

I loved that these two found each other and that they agreed to navigate all the newness of this relationship together. He did make mistakes and he acknowledged them, but almost to the point of feeling as if he was irredeemable. I felt for her and wanted to give her the biggest hug! Dennis, on the other hand, grappled with his accountability of how his last relationship eventually unraveled. Both characters struggle with navigating their past partnerships for different reasons - I felt so sad for April that she felt the way she did (unworthy of being fully committed to in the light of day) because others taught her that, and then people after that enforced that belief that she was only good “for a while”. #Canva #ForTheLoveOfAprilFrench by #PennyAimes For the Love of April French by Penny Aimes I loved this slow burn, coming-of-age, friends-with-benefits-to-lovers romance! This is another example of a book that I didn’t share many parts of my identity with the main characters & yet, I still found their struggles relatable and was rooting for them! The only identity I shared was being a woman, same as April - other than that, both characters move through the world much differently than me because of the identities we all hold.
